is a nonprofit organization that was created in 2016. Our goal is to provide culturally competent, holistic, and wellness-focused services to the individuals and families.

Clinical Team

Founding President
Lateacia Sessoms
Lateacia is the Founding President of Communities Of Change, a non-profit organization. Lateacia is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia and an approved supervisor through the Virginia Board of Counseling. She is a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, Board Certified Human Service Practitioner, Registered Play Therapist, Certified Sexual Treatment Provider, and a Certified Child & Adolescent Trauma Professional. Lateacia has clinical experience providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. She believes that everyone brings their own unique story to counseling and to honor each individual’s story she utilizes a strength-based approach with a variety of therapeutic orientations to help individuals meet their goals.
Lateacia has a passion for unifying communities. Her desire is to bring awareness to communities at large on the importance of authenticity and human connection. Lateacia knows that a community can be impacted and transformed by changing one family, and accessing the family through one member. Her goal is to multiply that impact through the transformation of one family which can initiate change in another family.
Erin is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Yoga Teacher. Her professional and personal experiences has led her to strongly believe in the connection between the mind, body, and spirit and the importance of a holistic path to healing. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and mindfulness techniques including yoga, meditation, and breathwork in assisting individuals in their journeys toward healing. She has an understanding that each individual’s experience is unique and therefore each individual requires an individualized treatment plan. She has extensive experience in assisting individuals with healing from traumatic experiences and redefining their future paths and she is passionate about helping individuals facilitate their journeys toward peace.

Erin Freeman

Resident in Counseling
Kartik Chaturvedi
Kartik is a Resident in Counseling working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. Kartik graduated with his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in December of 2022 from the University of New Orleans. Kartik completed his internship with Plaquemines Community Care Center, the only outpatient counseling center servicing the entire parish. In his internship experience, Kartik worked with both children and adults, conducting both individual and group counseling sessions, as well as administering intake assessments for incoming clients. Kartik is experienced with working with individuals under a Gestalt theoretical modality, helping individuals increase awareness and insight into their challenges, often confronting past experiences by bringing them to the present in order to work through these challenges and move forward in the most positive and healthy manner. Kartik is experienced with working with a range of diagnoses, including ADHD, trauma, depression, anxiety, stressors related to the environment, and adjustment disorders. Kartik has also been able to co-host several group therapies, including a Drug Education class and Choices Group for mandated clients, as well as a group for perpetrators of domestic violence. Kartik is eager to continue his education by providing services to individuals from all ages and all walks of life, working with individuals
towards empowerment and being the best versions of themselves.
